Want Your Kitty to Live Longer? What You Feed Them Matters!

Cat owners, take note! A cat’s long life is truly dependent on what you put in their bowl. Just like humans, felines need a balanced diet to thrive. While commercial cat food provides essential nutrients, incorporating some healthy treats can boost their well-being.

Shrimp: A source of protein and nutrients, shrimp can be a tasty and healthy treat for your cat. However, remember to feed it in moderation as excess sodium can be harmful.

Pumpkin: This versatile vegetable is a lifesaver for cats with sensitive stomachs. It helps regulate digestion and can prevent soft stools. Pumpkin can be added to your cat’s regular food or given as a standalone treat.

Sweet Potatoes: Cooked sweet potatoes are a fiber-rich treat that cats love. They aid in digestion and provide a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals.

Salmon: A source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, salmon supports heart health and boosts the immune system.

Chicken Breast: Boiled chicken is a tasty and easily digestible treat for your cat. It’s a great source of lean protein.

Egg Yolks: Rich in lecithin, egg yolks can improve your cat’s fur coat. However, it’s important to avoid egg whites, as they can be harmful to cats.

Remember: Always consult your veterinarian before introducing any new foods to your cat’s diet, especially if they have any underlying health conditions.

Remember, every cat is unique, and their dietary needs may vary. By providing a balanced diet and incorporating healthy treats, you can help your furry friend live a long and happy life!

    • Great question! 😊 Many people cook pet food to eliminate harmful bacteria like salmonella or E. coli, ensuring it’s safe for their furry friends (and humans handling the food). That said, raw diets can work well too if done properly and with care—it’s all about what’s best for the pet and their health. ❤️🐾

  1. When I had a kitten I fed him raw egg yolk and raw chicken, as well as chicken livers and lamb hearts. They were uncooked. I did use cooked sweet potato only because I couldn’t see how I could mash them into the rest of the food I gave him. As everything was fresh, I could then freeze his food in batches. Oh, one thing he LOVED and would sacrifice his mother for was raw prawn. If I got even a frozen bag of prawns (shrimps) out of the fridge, he could be 2 backyards away but, suddenly, he’s know and show up! but WHY COOK?

    • That sounds like your kitten had a real taste for the good stuff! 😄 Raw diets can be great if done properly, but cooking is often recommended for safety. It helps kill harmful bacteria like salmonella or E. coli that could make pets (or even humans handling the food) sick. That said, your kitten clearly knew what he loved—raw prawn sounds like his ultimate weakness! 🦐🐾
