After Years Together on the Streets, Two Stray Cats Finally Find a Home Together

After years of being together, two stray cats finally experience a home together for the first time.

For at least two years, residents of a neighborhood noticed two stray cats, one brown and one orange, always together, keeping their distance from anyone who tried to approach.

A couple began leaving food out for the pair, observing their routine and attempting to gain their trust. Despite their efforts, the cats remained wary and kept their distance.

One day, Julie, an animal rescuer, encountered the brown cat and was shocked by his poor condition. His coat was severely matted, leaving him unprotected from the harsh weather.

Determined to help, Julie took it upon herself to rescue the brown cat. As she knocked on doors and spoke to neighbors, she learned about the couple who had been feeding him and discovered the existence of his feline companion.

Realizing that the two cats were inseparable, Julie adjusted her plan to rescue them both together.

Julie and fellow rescuer Micheline successfully captured both cats using a humane trap and food. Denis and Louise then brought them into their home, settling them into a quiet room.

“Denis and Louise ensured they were kept indoors and covered the cost of their initial veterinary care. During the vet visit, they were surprised by how tolerant the cats were throughout the exam. The tabby remained calm as the knots on his back were shaved off,” shared Chatons Orphelins Montreal.

They discovered that the brown tabby, Chambertain, had once been a house cat until he somehow escaped. When he was found, his previous family no longer wanted him.

“After spending some time alone on the streets, he met the orange cat, Voltaire, and the two quickly became inseparable friends, following each other everywhere.”

“They could finally sleep in a warm place and eat as much as they wanted.”

Determined to provide the best life for the cats, the rescuers contacted the team at Chatons Orphelins Montreal, who kindly welcomed them and provided the care and support they so desperately needed.

“They are deeply bonded and will always stay together. They find comfort in each other, and it’s truly heartwarming to witness.”

Thanks to proper care and nutritious food, their fur has become soft and shiny. After being treated for a few health issues, they are now in excellent condition.

Throughout the day, the two best friends greet each other with affectionate face rubs and body hugs. They walk and lie down together, always side by side. “The bond they share is truly heartwarming. They depend on each other and are rarely apart.”

Chambertain and Voltaire are naturally gentle and calm. They are now enjoying this new life, where they can relax all day without any worries about tomorrow.

“If you find one, the other is always close by. When we brush one cat, his buddy sits next to him, patiently waiting for his turn.”

Both cats have adjusted to their foster family and have grown fond of their new indoor life. Voltaire, in particular, loves being cuddled and has blossomed into a purring machine.

“He loves napping in the sun and seeks attention. He’s opened up and learned that humans can be kind and loving.”

“Chambertain enjoys long naps, but as soon as a toy appears, his playful side shines through. He loves being brushed and rolls onto his side, asking for more.”

Having survived the streets together, their bond remains unbreakable as they now embark on new adventures in the safety and comfort of their indoor home.
