A cat spent weeks sitting outside, trying to get into a building, until a couple finally stepped in to help.

An orange and white cat found himself stuck outside his home, unable to find a way back in. Lost and confused, he waited around the building for nearly two weeks.
“This friendly cat, Galante, got out through a first-floor window. When he tried to return inside, his owner refused to let him back in. Galante had been living as an ‘indoor/outdoor cat’ for over a year, facing some tough times, but things are about to change,” shared Little Wanderers NYC.
Compassionate tenants had been feeding him, but with thunderstorms and fireworks on the way, they knew they needed to get him to safety as soon as possible.

A volunteer rescuer from Little Wanderers NYC quickly sprang into action and rushed to find Galante. The cat was cautious around strangers, hiding in the bushes and relying on his instincts to survive outdoors.
A humane trap with food was carefully placed near the bushes to begin the rescue process. After some time, Galante cautiously emerged from his hiding spot and started investigating the trap.

He was cautious and clever, walking in and out of the trap a few times. Eventually, hunger got the best of him, and he ventured in once more for the food. After safely securing Galante, the rescuer rushed him to the vet for the care he desperately needed.
Though Galante was understandably scared after the experience, his life was about to take a positive turn.

When Shane and Becca, a cat-loving couple, learned about Galante’s situation and his need for a foster home, they immediately stepped in to help.
The couple was instantly smitten with Galante, who resembled their own cat, Reggie, in every way. They settled him into a peaceful, cozy room filled with plenty of food, soft beds, and all the comforts he needed.

They gave him the space he needed to feel safe, speaking to him gently to help him get accustomed to their voices.
Little by little, Galante started to come out of his shell and explore. He was delighted with the many napping spots, tasty treats, a variety of toys, and a large cardboard box to call his own.

That night, Galante curled up in his cozy bed, surrounded by his blanket fort, finally catching up on the sleep he had missed.
The days of hiding in the bushes and waiting to get inside are now behind him. Galante is relieved and content, enjoying the comfort of a roof over his head and kind humans who meet his every need.

No longer needing to hide, Galante has blossomed into his true self.
He has become a loving companion to his foster parents and a gentle friend to the resident cats. He’s even discovered the office chair and enjoys hopping on it to “keep it warm.”

“He is incredibly affectionate and social, enjoying the view from the window. He gets along well with other cats and is a sweet, gentle, and polite kitty. On top of that, he’s incredibly smart and responsive.”

Having fended for himself for so long, Galante is finally back in his element, savoring every moment of his new life. “He is so happy to be rescued. He’ll never have to worry about finding a home again.”
